Foods to Eat and Avoid While on Your Period

While many woman work to keep their figure it tip top shape, eating heakthy food that is low on calories and carbs, much of that hard work is ruined when our "special time of the month" comes around. We work so hard to avoid all the snacking and tempting food that would completely kill our figures. I myself find a hard time passing up the bowl fulls of chocolate peanut butter ice cream. So how can we avoid the cravings that come with our periods and what food should we eat that would benefit us during this time?

Get your magnesium! The craving of chocolate is actually a sign that our bodies are low on magnesium which is a side effect of our lovely periods. This is why we crave chocolate.
•Eat fruit and nuts so that you crave chocolate less.

Avoid caffeine! This can lead to even more cramps and bloating. So lay off thecoffee  for a little while.
Eat your fiber to avoid cramps! Alot of the time for whatever reason our bodies digestive system gets all messed up during our period. By consuming fiber it will keep things regular by producing bulkier stool and letting go of excess water. So eat your beans and leafy greens! They are rich in fiber and vitamin B, of which both help.

Keep your flow light! Do this by eating dark greens. They have alot of vitamin K which help coagulate your blood and keep the blood flow light.

Avoid foods and beverages with high sodium content! While on our period we tend to bloat right? Well this is because our bodies are storing water. So why would we want to add to the bloating by putting sodium in to our body which naturally causes your body to retain water.

Eat dark chocolate! Dark chocolate has been proven to sooth your cravings and it will also boost your serotonin levels which will help your mood.

Drink lots of water! Even though the reason you bloat is because of water drinking even more water will help your body release the water your body is retaining.

Be you!

Don't let anyone prevent you from being you! Stay strong and do what you want!
If taking time to do your makeup makes you happy then do it! Don't pay attention to people trying to hurry you! If you like to do other things that people don't understand then who cares! Just keep doing it and don't try to please others! That is a sure way to be in happy. So make yourself happy and be yourself!

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer

The Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer has become a favorite of mine. First off lets talk about how easy to use it is. All you have to do is twist the applicator and the product will dispense up onto the spongy tip and then you can apply it to your problem areas directly. It has amazing coverage and wears incredibly well. It really doesn't crease up on me and doesn't fade and feels pretty light. It was definitely a good price for this product.

The only complaint I have about this product is that since you need to twist the applicator to dispense the product, which in turn pushes down on a little thing on the inside of the tube that dispenses the product up through the tube, a lot of product gets left behind in the tube which is in reachable. So I guess if I want it ill have to some how break it open to get it. Cause it really is a lot of product left behind!

But other than that I love this product and will continue to buy it if it isn't to hard or messy reaching the rest of the product!

By the way it is about $8 at your local drugstore!

Bath and Body Works + Victorias Secret Haul

So everyone knows that Bath and Body works had their store wide sale where everything was 75% off and the candles were only $10. So I stopped and grabbed a few things. Plus I also got one Victoria's Secret pink body mist. Did you know the two were sister stores?!?!

So first was the Expresso bar candle for $10 and omg this thing smells so amazing! I had to get it. I was with my friend and she was like that's a no brainer!

Next I got the wall flowers in Peach Bellini, I have this scent for my car and love it so much I had to get it for me room. It came in a pack of 2 for only $6!

Then I got the Wild Peach Poppies body lotion and holy cow this thing is amazing. It just smells so freakish good! I wear this the time now and get so many compliments. It's so girly smelling! I got it for seriously like $3.

Then I picked up another air freshener for my car. I was going to get my mom one of the cheaper plastic ones there but this was 75% off and so cute so I got it for myself and gave my mom mine. I love it! It was like $3 again.

Then I went to Victoria's Secret because I figured since they are sister stores they would have a sale too and they were! Everything was 65% off or more which is amazing! So I picked the Pink Surf Party body mist up for like $6 which is a great deal. It's a really fresh scent and I just can't get over it!

Olay Fresh Effects Va-Va-Vivid Powered Contour Cleansing System

This kit is meant to give you the ability to fit the contours of your face and deep clean around the T-zone and other heard to teach areas for a full face cleansing. It is supposed to take dirt, oil and makeup out if your pores and reveal a healthy looking glow.

So here is what comes in the kit.

Both of these items can be used together are separate. However you prefer to clean your face.

So lets start off with the brush tool.
The brush is shaped so that it has the ability to fit all the grooves of your face. The bristles on it are made of soft little pieces of rubber I think and those vibrate when the brush is turned on. It is a very gentle vibrate and feels really good on the skin while at the same time you can tell it is really worked the face wash down in to your skin. It is super easy to clean too. What I do is just take a little bit of soap and run it through and then rinse it out. What I like about this took is it runs off battery and can be kept up in maintenance so easily. Also if you don't like the scrub that comes with it you can use your own that you really love and take it to the next level with this cleansing tool.

Next is the face wash. It is the Olay Fresh Effects Shine Shine go away face wash. It is a shine minimizing cleanser that is meant to be out directly on the the head of the brush and worked into the skin. It honestly smells really good. It has a clean fresh smell and feels really good on my face. I could tell a difference right after my shower cause my face just seemed dryer. And not in a dry skin way but like it took all the extra oils out of my skin and left it soft and smooth.

I really recommend this product so far however time tells all and we will see how well it continues to work for me in the future.

Mini Haul!

So I went shopping and as you can see I didn't pick up too much stuff. But what I am most excited about is the face washes. So lets start off with those first!

I got the Olay fresh effects Va-Va-Vivid powered contour cleansing system. It comes with a little cleansing brush and then a shine minimizing cleanser. Ill be doing a first impressions and reviews in this one later. But it was only $10 and I got it at Walmart.

Next I got the Equate blemish control apricot scrub that is a copy if the St. Ives face scrub. I use to have the St. Ives version a long time ago and absolutely loved it. So I wanted to try it again, but as a girl on a budget I went for the cheaper Equate version because Equate products usually work just as well!

Then being a cheap person like I am I got the Elf Daily Brush Cleaner. It was only like $3 I believe at Walmart but honestly I wouldn't pay any more for it than that because I clean my brushes regularly anyways so what is the point in spending alot of money on a spot cleaner when this cheap one works just as well.

And finally I picked up another lipstick. It is the Maybelline Coral Gleam 730 colorsensational. It is just a really pretty dark peachy nude color that has a little but of shimmer to it. I got It at Walmart for almost $6.

Physicians Formula Organic Wear Jumbo Lash Mascar

This Mascara is so amazing it has made me a one type of mascara buying kind of girl. It is first off in the cutest little tube ever. But most importantly it is organic. Regular mascaras are drying and cause your lashes to become brittle and break off. But this is 100% free of harsh chemicals, synthetic preservatives, and parabens. It doesn't flake or smudge and because of the it is totally buildable to really make your eye lashes dramatic. The wand has the most amazing applicator ever and creates the most voluminous eye lashes ever! Also the brush itself is recyclable. This mascara is just so amazing I can't say enough good about! You can get it at target and Walmart for about 8 dollars so it is also relatively cheap.

DIY decorative keys

Have you ever come across the problem of not knowing which key goes to what lock? Or had the urge to by those cute decorated keys but just couldn't bring yourself to spend the money on it? Well here is your solution! If you have time to paint your nails then you have time to customize your keys!

First pick out the nail polish colors you'd like to use.
Then paint the end of then keys and flip it around and get the other side.
Then tape the grooved end to the edge of a table of some sort and let it dry.
(It is totally up to you if you want to add designs and really decorate them! You can use a sparkly nail polish or take thin pen nail polishes and make shapes or write words in them! )
Once it is dried take a clear top coat and paint the key again the same way and again let it dry.

You are left with cute customized keys that don't leave you guessing which is which!

How to Relieve and Disguise a Sunburn

Ok so we have all been there. That day where we forget our sunscreen or just didn't feel like putting it on. Just to realize once it's too late that we may have stayed out in the sun for too long. We are now left with incredibly painful, and embarrassing red skin. So now what do we do?

First off lets try to reduce the redness and pain
1. Take a cool bath or shower! The water will cool your skin off which will help with the redness and take away some of the heat.
2. Get yourself some apple cider vinegar. You can either add this to your bath or put it in a spray bottle and spray it all over yourself. But this draws out the heat and takes away the redness.
3. Apply aloe Vera. If you have a leaf that it great but if not they sell aloe Vera at the store. The straight aloe kind is great and really heals your skin quickly but if you also want pain relief they have a soothing aloe that creates a cooling effect.
4. Put on a lotion that has some type of cocoa butter in it or aloe and make sure that it is a more natural lotion. Any other kind will irritate your skin and hold heat in.
5. For the pain also take some time of pain reliever. Benadryl will work and help with the itching that can sometimes follow but be careful, it will make you tired.

Now for disguising the redness if you just don't have the time to deal with the other steps.
1. Wear clothing that is dark. The dark clothing will help make the redness look less intense. If you wear white it will really amplify the redness. Also don't wear great. Think about the color wheel. Green is opposite so obviously it  will compliment the red and really make it pop.
2. Wear a tinted moisturizer. It will sooth the skin and provide a slight coverage. Also a primer that has a green tint will cancel out the redness.
3. If you absolutely have to wear a foundation mix it with aloe Vera. It will provide the coverage with all the benefits of the aloe. Another plus is if you have oily skin aloe Vera keeps your skin from getting oily.
4. Stay away from wearing makeup that has a red tint to it like blush or a red or pink lip color. It will just make your skin look more red. Stick with a bronzer or nude.

If all else fails stay in! Have a night to yourself and have a long talk with yourself about how next time you need to being the sunscreen!
Well I hope this helped a little bit and good luck!

Let me know what you do for your sunburns!
